Mentorship Program - Mentor Registration 2019

Greetings Sisters,

The Sisters of the Skies, Inc. has decided to launch a formalized Mentorship Program. The program is designed to address the large number of aspiring sisters who would like to join our organization, but do not yet have a commercial pilot’s license. We are hoping to continue to be an inspiration to them and their future by welcoming them into our mentorship program. The program is designed for women of color ages 16+, who have an aspiration of becoming a professional pilot.

We have created this program because it shows that the Sisters of the Skies organization cares about its current and future members, and is committed to creating a more prepared woman of color entering the Aviation industry. The mentorship program will also aid in creating a more engaged member, and help with individual development and create comradery. As a Sisters of the Skies mentor, we hope that you will be willing to share your wisdom, skills, and expertise with your mentee, as well as, evolve your thinking and deepen your mentoring skills.

There are two distinct identical mentorship programs. One is a year-long program that runs March through December, and the other is an accelerated 6-month program that runs July through December. We have designed this so that those who may miss the deadline at the beginning of the year, might still have a chance to enter the secondary program. During that time frame, we ask that you check-in with your mentees a minimum of once every two months if they are on the year long program, and once a month if they are on the accelerated program, however checking in more often is fine.

As of right now, we are seeking sisters to volunteer their time as mentors in the program. As a mentor, you would be committing to serve for the remainder of the year beginning in March. On the other hand, your mentee may be either in the year-long or accelerated 6-month program. We are planning on launching the official Sisters of the Skies Mentorship Program in March of 2019.
